When was this first released? The liner notes on the 2019 Real Gone Music release The Complete Christmas Collection say 1950, Discogs and 45cat say 1951, and Chip mentioned in another Leroy Anderson thread that it was 1952. Can anyone confirm a definitive date?

Re:Leroy Anderson's Original Recording of "Sleigh Ride"

“Sleigh Ride” b/w “Promenade”, by Leroy Anderson and his “Pops” Concert Orchestra, was first released as Decca 16000 (78) and Decca 9-16000 (45) in February 1951.

I know Chip likes proof, so here’s a link to a page from the Billboard magazine of February 3, 1951 with a Decca ad touting its release. (See under “New Gold Label Singles” on the bottom right.

By the way, simultaneous with the single release Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” was also included on the 10” album Leroy Anderson Conducts His Own Compositions (Decca DL 7509), which is also listed on the same linked page under “New Gold Label Albums”.

The song was *recorded* here in New York in late 1950; released by Decca Records in early 1951 on 78 and 45-rpm discs with the catalog numbers previously mentioned; and then released as a 45-rpm single again in 1952 as catalog #28429.
