Date Posted:11/19/2016 12:52:33Copy HTML Chip, I have noticed the Hollyridge Christmas CD that was released by Collector's Choice several years ago is commanding over $100. Is there any chance that Real Gone Music might release it in 2017? Also any plans to release a complete Tennessee Ernie Ford Christmas CD? Thanks, Jim |

Re:Tennessee Ernie Ford and Hollyridge Strings Date Posted:11/19/2016 03:54:59Copy HTML I've been trying to get the Hollyridge Strings back in print and have mentioned it to Gordon several times; but unfortunately, it's a UMG property and nothing comes easy with them. Hopefully, we'll eventually get it back. As for Tennessee Ernie Ford, perhaps someday; but unfortunately, it won't be easy either as the Capitol Records catalog is now owned by UMG. You have to make your selections very carefully with UMG because they're very stingy about what they'll cede over. I thought we'd finally get Fred Waring this year, only to be jilted again. However, it should happen next year. Lawrence F. "Chip" Arcuri

Thanks Chip! Why is UMG so stubborn in releasing these Christmas classics? It doesn't do them justice just sitting in the vaults waiting to be heard! I appreciate your efforts and hope that Fred Waring gets released for 2017. |

Re:Tennessee Ernie Ford and Hollyridge Strings Date Posted:11/19/2016 07:48:05Copy HTML They're stubborn on everything, Jim, and they drive a hard bargain. None of this serves their interest at all. Frankly, I don't think they're very bright. They've always been a difficult company to deal with. It's basically the nature of their corporate infrastructure -- and in addition, because of their size, the haughtiness (that's a euphemism) of their staff. It's no secret to anyone who follows this message board over the years that I have a palpable disdain for UMG. Lawrence F. "Chip" Arcuri

Re:Tennessee Ernie Ford and Hollyridge Strings Date Posted:11/21/2016 03:47:43Copy HTML Tennessee Ernie Ford did not have a Christmas album in 1959; but if you're referring to his 1958 album The Star Carol, then no, the orchestra was not conducted by Alfred Newman, but rather Harry Geller.
