I recollect having watched a movie on "The Late Show" on TV back in the fifties that had a choir singing "The Holly and the Ivy" as the background music during the opening credits.

But I'll be danged if I can remember the name of the movie.

Does that ring any bells?

There is a 1952 English film titled "The Holly and the Ivy" that opens with the song but I don't remember if it was vocal or instrumental.

By golly, I bet that's it!  Thanks, Eric!

The Holly and the Ivy

Apparently it's only available in PAL format.  But my local movie store has it:

HOLLY & THE IVY (PAL)(CODE 2)

In addition to movies, they also rent a variety of DVD and VHS players, including a player for PAL DVDs.

Trouble is, I don't have a car, so I'd have to arrange for someone to drive me down and back two days in a row.  I don't think I could manage the DVD player on the bus.

Hmmm?  I wonder if they would let me watch the movie at the store during a slow time of day, like early in the morning on a week day.  Couldn't hurt to ask, could it?
