Welcome to the message board, Aaron -- the polka king of Appleton, Wisconsin. I used to be a radio disc jockey myself, buddy.

I listened to your song, but unfortunately, I can't identify it. Perhaps it was a local record in Wisconsin?

Thanks for listening to it. I don't think it's a local record, because the reel that this comes from was a William B Tanner ("Tanner Musical Spectrum") reel that radio stations could load onto their automation systems.

Aaron,

I've heard that version before in my travels, but can't quite place it.

While it's not an instrumental, have you posted it to the "Beautifulinstrumentals" group on Yahoo?  Several people who were involved with Bonneville/Starborne/etc. custom recordings are members, and while it might not be one of those, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Frank,

Looking at that person's Yahoo profile, I see that it was Aaron, who started this thread here.

I knew the clip sounded familiar for some reason.

I need to get more sleep, or something.

That song of Aaron's is familiar to me also; but I can't place it- I might be thinking of a similar tune. bye for now.

I apologize for reviving an OLD thread... but I just wanted to report that I've found out who recorded this version of "Hark The Herald Angels Sing."  It's from an album called "Christmasing" by the Norman Luboff Choir.  I think it was recorded in about 1981 or so.

That's correct, Aaron, the album is from 1981. I think I listened to it just once after I acquired it when it came out and promptly filed it in my archives, which is why I just couldn't identify it. It's a weak effort by Norman Luboff, who was in the twilight of his career; in fact, it was the last album that he recorded. Nevertheless, it's probably a worthy candidate for the "Notable Mentions" section that follows my
Top 500.
