During this past Christmas season, I got pretty tired of hearing the same 10 artists sing the same 10 songs over and over on the local NYC radio station that goes 'all Christmas' once a year.
I managed to find a pretty cool Internet radio station called 'Christmas Vinyl' that plays exactly what they say they do...Christmas music on VINYL.

http://www.christmasvinyl.com/
I like this intro from their website:

"Remember, from those days gone by, those precious moments when you would put on your favorite Christmas LP, turn down the lights and sit in the soft glow of the Christmas tree…"

I listen to it more on my iPad at home and iPhone in the car. I was a welcome respite from hearing too many 'modern' zero playlist Christmas stations.

Excellent station, Gene; I'm listening to it now.

I had a feeling that you might like it if you weren't actually RUNNING it!

Very nice station and I like that it shows the name and artist of the actual song playing in WinAmp.  Not that I wouldn't know the majority of them.

I wish they had a Wi-Fi Internet Radio System that you could take from your home to your vehicle.  Like Satelliete Radio where you have a docking station in your vehicle and home and just bring the unit with you.

Not bad quality for 128kbps either.

Thanks for sharing the link Genoman

I also notice that they are supported by donations. I think that my next paycheck will see a few bucks going their way.

I knew that this board and it's members would like this.

I had it loaded in WinAmp for about 5 hours before I had to go the the grocery store and didn't hear a single commercial.  Then I came home and listened for a little while but had to rearrange my living room around as I needed more space.

I think if I have extra out of my next disability check I will make a donation myself.  I can't believe the wonderful music I heard today and it's all Classic Christmas Vinyl.  Normally if I wanted to hear all that I've heard today I would have to find each album if they haven't been ripped to my computer yet and this is almost like a Christmas Present in January that will last all year around.

Part of me feels like I am listening to the radio when I was younger.

Awesome find Genoman

We concur, definitely a great station. We're listening to it now after having just watched The Shop Around The Corner. Christmas is not over yet in this household!

It definitely reminds me of radio at Christmas in my youth in the 60's.

Wow, I wish I'd known about this last month!

Not everything they play is sourced from vinyl, however. If you look at the album info included on their "Currently Playing" page, some of their tracks are actually taken from CD compilations.

The guy who runs the Christmas Vinyl station is badly in need of financial support. If you like the station and want to keep it running, you might consider making a donation.

Terrific!!!  And as if by design, I surfed in just as Andy Williams' "Mary's Little Boy Child" came on.  Glad to see someone doing this.  Now that

I have a smart phone, I wish he had a droid app!

...and just left a donation.  I'll try to help spread the word!

I just left him 'some coin' too, for this great station.  I'm able to listen on a Logitech Squeezebox Internet Radio, and it sounds great.  And...they just played Andy's "Joy to the World" - how appropriate!

For what it's worth, Best Buy has these Logitech Squeezebox radios on Clearance, and they're a great way not to tie-up a computer and have a 'radio' with 6 preset stations, like Christmas Vinyl.

We've been listening to CV since the inaugural post of this thread announced its availability. It is, IMHO, a great station and could be heard year-round this year. We have recently donated to help support the site but, alas, it appears that not enough donations have come in to allow its continued existence. According to the latest post by the owner he is going to shut down on January 1, 2013 and both the domain and equipment are up for sale. Too bad I say!

Below is a snippet of the post from the site. It does end with "in our current format" so I don't know if that leaves open the possibility of providing this great service some other way or not. BTW, we've been listening to it via TuneIn but the CV iPhone app is available now and works great.

This has been a hard decision for me.  And I’m sorry to have to make this announcement.
This year the station is operating in a deficit for the first time since it’s inception. Donations have dried up and I just don’t have the savvy to make the station profitable.  Perhaps someone out there can make it work.  We’ve had a good run and it’s been a lot of fun.

As of Jan 1st we will discontinue operations in our current format.

This is tragic; Christmas Vinyl is a top-notch commercial free station that plays our kind of Christmas music.
If everybody could even give him $5 to keep it going it would be great, or if he could at least keep the station running Nov 25 - Dec 31 every year?  (unless the domain name and licensing costs are too much)?

Please tune-in to Christmas Vinyl and consider the cost of a cup of java as a donation - it would be great if he could figure out how to keep this running.

Sad. Such a warm, wonderful little station. Great for late night weekend listening. Very sad.

I had also posted in the general thread about online Christmas radio stations:

When you do a Google search, the preview text paragraph starts out with:

"I have recently received a letter from a lawyer at soundexchange that we may be
in violation of copyright licensing. I have been forced to shut"

and gets cut off there. The Twitter page for "ChristmasVinyl" does seem to be gone, as well.
