Ok  ,  Yippee Ki Yi Eh,   get to try again.  Mentioned my limited access to the show,   not on Directv  and had limited over the air access to Antenna TV.  Well latest look see says I have two over the air options  now,  if my antenna will pick them up.   I am starting my testing now.   The only issue is that how do I record over the air broadcasts,  all my systems are geared toward satellite not over the air,  but I have time to figure that out now.

Thanks a bunch Chip.

Oh Great One- I got a medium-sized old-school log-periodic TV antenna WITH VHF and put it in my attic. Most of the junk HDTV antennae are only for UHF stations next door, and in my case, I have to have VHF coverage to get 3 of the 7 main stations. If you can put the antenna up into your attic and run a good RG-6/U cable down to one of the infamous HDTV converter boxes, you can output that to a DVD recorder or even a Hi-Fi Stereo VHS recorder.  It's called Antenna TV for good reason, it's one of the few stations you can get for free with an Antenna.  Unfortunately, my local Antenna TV station has 4 sub-stations crammed into one, so the video is just horrible, but I need to check and see if it's even in stereo for that matter for this important broadcast. Is it on channel 28 or 20 up your way?

Johnnyelectric
I have a deep fringe uhf/vhf antenna outside on a pole on the roof,   with an adjustable rotor ,  and  a preamp on the antenna and RG6 coax coming down.   So I have about as good as normal money can buy,   Right now I can pick up the stations I want but due to distance they can come and go with the weather.  Like I said the issue is recording,  the signals are now all HD digital  which means none of my old VHS  systems can interpret them.  I do not want to go out and buy a HD over the air DVR just for this.   My existing DVR is part of my Satellite package and cannot be hooked to an standard antenna.   So at the moment my only option is to use an old HD to Standard TV converter that I have,  to get the signal down to old style over the air,  and then use a VHS recorder,   or pump it into  my computer and recorded it there.    Chips note about it being streamed is also interesting,   I might be able to just get the audio with my Satellite Internet,  it would not be likely I can stream the video and audio.  I have been able to stream audio only with some success.  Its on 20 out of Detroit  and 10 out of Lansing

In my area, (Buffalo) it is difficult to pick up most of the TV Stations since the "Digital Transition"  Most broadcasters don't even transmit at 1000 KW anymore, and being Digital it is a very narrow signal.  Their antenna towers are much shorter than they were with we were still Analog. and most used to transmitted at  500,000 kw Visual and maybe 480,000 aural.  (Just used that wattage as an example being the there were actually 2 frequencies received by the TV Tuner and converted into one, the channel you were on, and Visual was somewhat stronger than Aural)
I have tried several different indoor antennas, even a home made bow-tie one.  It seems to work the best, but digital transmission are affected by any type of interference, so it is still difficult to pick them up reliably,  Even bad weather will interfere with the signal.  It does help in the transmitter is under 10 miles away, but in most cases they aren't.

Dish Network and I believe the other providers do not have to give you the secondary channels, just the primary.

I do pick up Antenna TV somewhat reliably, but other networks like Get TV and Retro (COZI, THIS-TV) etc., that broadcast a lot of Classic Christmas programs.  i.e. Bing Crosby. Andy Williams, Perry Como, Danny Kay and Gisele MacKenzie  Dinah Shore are very hard to pick up.

The housing project where I live doesn't allow outdoor antenna's.  I do have a satellite dish, but had to pay a non-refundable $100 deposit, and the dish isn't physically attached to the building and no holes were drilled into the building.  They used a flat coaxial cable that goes under the window sill.  My dish is mounted on a pole in a 5-gallon bucket filled with concrete.

Re:2017 Yule Log Broadcast Schedule (National Coverage)

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!
Well, we had snow overnight, so it caused a signal interruption on my Satellite Dish, so I only got about an hour of the WPIX Yule Log for this year.  Fortunately, I also was able to DVR the Antenna TV Broadcast and am watching that right now.  IT is OTA (Over The Air), so satellite signals not needed.  This is the first year that I wasn't able to get the WPIX Broadcast because of signal.  I know it is basically the same program every year, but I like to have each years broadcast.

I did get the 1-hour broadcast of the original footage last night, and was surprised that WPIX started out the 4-hour broadcast with the first hour of music with Joy To The World (Percy Faith) instead of starting our with hour 2.

Joshua,

Yes, unfortunately the new Percy Faith 1959 stereo Music Of Christmas CD is pretty much sold out everywhere, except Amazon. They got the last shipment of the new CD a couple of weeks ago. However, I just checked and there are only 12 copies left. So please order quickly!
