I have this song in my head, and I know I have an MP3 of it someplace, but can't find it because I am not sure of the title. Part of ii is "Carry Me" or "Cone on and carry me", and may be by The Outsiders but I can't find it online. What comes up is Dr. Hook's "Carry Me, Carrie" and then the old song "Swing Low Sweet Chariot". I believe the song came out in the 1960's and possibly a British group, but I can't for the life of me find it in my MP3 files. I can hear the tune in my head but can basically only remember the words "Carry Me" I have tried searching YouTube and Google to no avail. EDIT I have also tried searching under "The Exciters" and "The Easybeats" but am not really sure it is either of them.

Re:Non-Christmas song I am trying to locate Date Posted:08/18/2015 12:03:15Copy HTML Thank you Chip,
Alas that isn't it either :-( I think part of it is I still have the tune in my head, but unfortunately the Google App that you can use doesn't recognize humming or even singing a song, it has to be an actual recording of a song that would be in the data base. Even if someone was to hum or sing "Silent Night", it wouldn't recognize it because if isn't the actual song, and the app can recognize most versions of Silent Night. I am 99% certain that I have it either on a CDR that I made of MP3's or on my computer, but can't find it being I don't remember the artist or title. Carry Me may not be in the title but it is part of the verse as I previously mentioned. It is most likely from the 1960's too, but for the life of me I can't remember it. Alas, those weren't the song. It was definitely around the middle 1960's. I still am sure it wasn't later than 1969. It may be by someone like the Vogues. I appreciate your input though. Christmas Isn't Just A Day In December, It's A Way Of Life.

How about making an MP3 recording of yourself humming the tune and uploading it to a file sharing site where we can all listen to it? Will in Seattle

Re:Non-Christmas song I am trying to locate Date Posted:11/11/2015 02:21:18Copy HTML Hi Will,
I can't remember the tune exactly, only the words, and when I try to think of what the tune could be, I get several songs that come into my head at the same time, with similar verses, and they just run into one another, so it makes the song even harder to find. I do believe I have an MP3 of it on my computer, but it is probably unnamed and that is why I can't find it. It's not that important, but you know how sometimes you hear a song, and you know that you have it somewhere in your collection, but just can't find it. I have searched for certain songs for 30 years, and eventually will find them. I may have mentioned this before, but back in the late 1970's, I was taping songs of the radio, and there was this Christmas song that I recorded onto an 80 minute 8-track tape, but when I played the tape back it had been stretched while recording because it was a cheap tape, and the graphite or whatever it is they used inside it to keep it from sticking, made the tape stretch and the music sounded like a very old worn out tape that faded in and out, and I could barely make out the words. It also made a 2:?? minute song run for 9:?? minutes, so it was difficult to hear the words, and at one time, I thought it was a female singer. I know the song now and have the album, but I remembered that there was a verse in it that went "Little Toy Tin Soldier in Your Tiny Box" Well after calling and writing the radio station in Canada to no avail, I tried old record vendors, and this was before the personal computer, so I would purchase their catalogs trying to find the song, but not getting any results. Then with the advent of the personal computer, I started searching, and eventually came up with Toy Soldier by Martika, but that wasn't it, and then several other songs with "Soldier" or "Toy" in it. Eventually, I found the song and it was by a male soprano named Heintje, and then by finding who he was, I was also able to find the second song that this radio statiion always played at Christmas "Alle Jahre Wieder" and then I found both of his original Christmas albums which were a German Import and in Near Mint Condition, so I now have both albums, "Weihnachten mit Heintje" which Alle Jahre Wieder is from and "When The Christmas-Bells Are Ringing" which "Little Toy Tin Soldier" is from. There is a thread on this message board about some songs that were taped off the radio, and I uploaded MP3's of the songs I was trying to find. And I have pretty much identified all of them, mostly with the help of "Chip" Though a few stumped him being they were in German, and one was from James Last. The tune was very familiar, but a lot of German artists did the song as well as other singers and they would do the English version of the song. Another example is "The City Never Sleeps At Night" by Nancy Sinatra, and I eventually found that after 30+ years of searching for the song. I tried local radio stations that had an Oldies format and would have a special on every weekend and people would request a song, and I asked over the air if anyone was familiar with the song, and unfortunately, everyone came up with Petula Clark, but after with the computer, I was finally able to find it and I paid about $35.00 for the 45 record. On it the flip-side was "These Boots Are Made For Walking" but I had 3 copies of this song, and the flip-side wasn't "The City Never Sleeps At Night" So, when I am determined to find a song, I will, it may take most of my life, but I will find it. Re:Non-Christmas song I am trying to locate Date Posted:11/12/2015 09:01:35Copy HTML Unfortunately, the lyrics probably aren't as accurate as you think then. I've had incidents like this where I was SURE I knew how the words went, but then after a decade of searching, discovered I was actually WAY off on a lot of it.

Re:Non-Christmas song I am trying to locate Date Posted:11/12/2015 02:19:12Copy HTML Thank you Will,
I usually don't give up that easily and when I finally get my hands on the record, I will play it several times the first day because it means so much to me. Then I will usually rip it to the computer so I have easy access to it whenever I want to listen to it. As for the song by Ray Charles, it isn't that one either. If I had to try and guess, I would say it sounds more like The Vogues, or The Grass Roots, somewhere along the way they sound. It could even be a British group. But so far, I can't seem to find it. I thank you both for trying. Susan Christmas Isn't Just A Day In December, It's A Way Of Life.

Re:Non-Christmas song I am trying to locate Date Posted:11/12/2015 09:32:03Copy HTML One final stab: could it have been "marry me" instead of "carry me?"
Wedding Bell Blues, 5th Dimension, 1969 - released on the Album, "Age of Aquarius" EVERYBODY knows that title www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXuyQILJ-yc |

Re:Non-Christmas song I am trying to locate Date Posted:11/15/2015 03:49:11Copy HTML Alas, no, it wasn't Marry Me, it was definitely Carry Me and more like Come one and Carry me right into your loving arms. I don't remember the exact verse, but Carry Me was the main part of the song. And again, it was more like the Vogues, Grassroots, Searchers Dave Clark Five, someone in that genre or sound.
The more I try to remember the verse, it runs into "Rescue Me' by Aretha Franklin, in my head, but it wasn't her by no means. it was more like the groups I mentioned above. Thank you again for trying. Christmas Isn't Just A Day In December, It's A Way Of Life.

Re:Non-Christmas song I am trying to locate Date Posted:01/23/2016 07:34:29Copy HTML Hi Susan...long time no speak! And Happy New Year. I did a Google search and came across a song Carry Me by The Stampeders released in 1969. Definitely around the era of The Grassroots and other artists you mentioned. It was the same group who had a hit with Sweet City Woman. Hope you can find it and when you do please let me know? Thanks and happy hunting!

Re:Non-Christmas song I am trying to locate Date Posted:01/24/2016 04:38:30Copy HTML Hi Rich,
Thank you so much That is the exact song I have been looking for, I guess I wasn't remembering the lyrics correctly, but it is the song definitely. I have been through a lot these past few months, but can't go into details publicly, but am on the mend. I hope you had a Happy New Year too. Again, thank you so much for finding the song. I am familiar with both songs, but for the life of me couldn't remember the group lol. I don't get online as often as I would like to anymore either, so I am glad I stopped by today.
