Date Posted：11/21/2013 11:32:29Copy HTML Some of you may have heard earlier this week that a sequel was in the works for "It's A Wonderful Life". A co-worker said to me, "How could they!" I agree. Paramount agrees as well. They own the rights to the picture and have no interest in making a sequel.
You gotta believe Clarence had everything to do with this! "It's A Wonderful Life" doesn't need a sequel. Here are a pair of links, one announcing plans for the sequel, the other announcing Paramount blocking it. |

"It's a Wonderful Life" is practically a paradox. Temporarily entering into public domain, which enabled it to gain wide appeal as a holiday film, before actually being dragged back out of public domain and eventually falling into the hands of Paramount. I didn't even know this until now. I thought it was still public domain. |

Re：It's A Wonderful Life sequel a no go Date Posted：12/08/2013 02:33:12Copy HTML I had actually heard about it I think before November 21st. from another Christmas discussion group that I belong to, and we were all talking about how it has been way too long for a sequel, and obviously by now, the Bailey Brother's Building and Loan would have either failed or just closed up with the advent of all the new banks and credit unions and so on, so that wouldn't even come into play in the sequel. But we also talked a lot about how it would ruin this great Christmas Classic. Some movies don't need a sequel or even a remake, like they did with Marlo Thomas back I believe in the late 1970's or early 1980's where the role was reversed, and she was the one who thought the world would be better off if she had never been born. I don't really remember anything about it as I only saw it once when it first aired on television and I have never seen it again. Even if they tried to do a remake, it would ruin the original; can you imagine how it would be if they had remade it as many times as they have with Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol"/"Scrooge"? There have been so many remakes under different titles, that there is no surprise element to the storyline. We all know what is going to happen throughout the entire movie, even if they don't stick to the original script. These movie producers need to leave well enough alone when it comes to the great Christmas Classics, or any Classic Movie for that matter. I was close to starting an online petition to get this sequel stopped, but Paramount won and I don't need to, but that is how upset and angry I was that they were going to ruin this great Christmas Classic with a sequel. Christmas Isn't Just A Day In December, It's A Way Of Life.

But though maybe I'm prejudiced, as a guy who's been blessed to revist some classic properties as an actor, if the "NO!" was a hard rule:
SHERLOCK HOLMES: after Rathbone, we'd have never gotten Brett's, which is terrific. TARZAN: after Weissmuller, we'd have never gotten Scott's, which is even closer to Burroughs' original. SUPERMAN: after Reeves, we'd have never gotten Reeve's, which is wonderful. A real Classic - like a real Christmas - is so strong, so lasting, that it not only allows rebirth. It welcomes it! On a related note, it's been done before anyway. Aside from the zillion "homages" TV and other movies paid to IAWL, there was a "real" sequel in 1990, a made-for-TV movie on the Family Channel called "Clarence." Re：It's A Wonderful Life sequel a no go Date Posted：12/10/2013 02:14:38Copy HTML A friend of mine from Eastern, PA has told me that they have a movie theater that is showing the original 35mm print of It's A Wonderful Life and I believe she told me they do this for free. The show other Classic Christmas movies too and usually for free during the Christmas Season. They are also going to show the Digital Print of It's A Wonderful Life but that isn't going to be free for some reason. But it is nice that "some" movie theaters will bring back these films to The Big Screen"
Tho only movie I know that they bring back almost every year is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show' and it is shown usually across the Country. People still bring rice and toilet paper and dress up like the characters in the movie. I remember when I worked for a movie theater and had to clean up after show this film. You would not believe the mess that was left after the movie. Christmas Isn't Just A Day In December, It's A Way Of Life.
