I've been hearing a lot of streaming Christmas music by Ronnie Aldrich and his two pianos.  I'm wondering if he could actually have played two pianos at the same time, or if, more likely, he he mixed two separate recording sessions of himself.

I Googled him and found this on Wikipedia: "He was noteworthy for the recording development of playing two pianos in his recordings (the Decca Phase 4 Stereo series)."  But that didn't clarify how exactly he played those two pianos.

Do you know?

Yes, that's correct: multitracking.

Thanks, Chip!

When I was a kid there was this guy on TV who played a piano and organ at the same time:

He might have made an interesting Christmas album.

Looks like a pretty obscure album. The original was a 10" LP from 1951 on a label called Vita Records:

And here are two subsequent expanded 12" LP releases of the original 10" album. Both are on a label called India Records:

He has a cameo as himself in the Johnny Depp film 'Ed Wood'.
