It is from 1959 on 20th Century Fox Record Sing We Now Of Christmas in 1959 but was originally released as a single in 1958.  If you go to the main page off this website and click on the Stocking with "The Music" it will bring up all the songs from The WIPIX Yule Log and The Little Drummer Boy is #7,  I believe that somewhere on this message board there is a list of the tiers where this song resides in Chip's too 500..  You should be able to do a search and it may bring it up.

The album that Susan refers to was Harry Simeone's first Christmas album from 1959, and is #188 in my Top 500, click here.

 However, the album you refer to, #192, is his *last* Christmas album from 1981. It was recorded for the independent record label, Holiday Records. This album contains Harry Simeone's last re-recording of his hit song, "The Little Drummer Boy." This 1981 LP was released on CD in 2005 by the independent record label Passport Audio Records.

By the way, that CD you have is a compilation that consists mostly of material from his 1959 Fox Records album.

I have the first LP on 20th Century Fox and in fact, I have all of your Top 250, plus about 30 titles chosen from the second 250, with the exception of this one album on Holiday Records and the CD on Passport Audio Records, which I will now hunt down. You are most welcome, and Thank you Chip for the clarification on the new album release.  I forgot that I have both.

Speaking of the song, was there more than one release on a 45?  The ones I have has "Die Lorelei" on the flip side, and have 2 different labels on the 45's that I have.   The older release has the Pink Yellow White on Black label and the newer release has the lighter blue label with clouds on it and Red 20th Fox on it  They are both 45-121 wil the following for (MF-174) (J08-2715) for "The Little Drummer Boy"  and (MF-175) (J08-2716) for "Die Lorelei"

I even have an original paper sleeve for the older one I believe, but it could be for the newer release  I "borrowed" this image from eBay as I don't have immediate access to my records.

There were several releases of the song on 45 by Fox, with different picture sleeves and disc labels including the blue & white as well as the gold & black.
