Date Posted:02/17/2024 02:36:41Copy HTML First off I want to thank Chip for sharing his top 500. It has proven to be an invaluable resource over the years - I have managed to collect or consider most of the albums on Chip's list at this point. That said, I am looking for additional options to consider and I can't think of a better place to start than the members of this forum: What are your favorite Christmas albums, singles and/or compilations that didn't make Chip's list? Here are a few of my own to kick things off:

Re:Favorite Christmas Album or Comp NOT in Chip's Top 500 Date Posted:02/17/2024 04:51:35Copy HTML David, Firstly, *only* full-length 12" Christmas albums are listed in my Top 500, not 10" albums (like the Urbie Green) or singles (like the Margo Guryan). And secondly, that Beegie Adair Christmas album that you referred to is indeed in my Top 500, as well as an additional Christmas album of hers: they are both in the "Bubbling Under The Top 300" section of my Top 500, coming in at #483 and #484 respectively. Re:Favorite Christmas Album or Comp NOT in Chip's Top 500 Date Posted:02/17/2024 06:17:45Copy HTML Thanks Chip, I must have missed the Beegie inclusions when I last scanned the list. If that's the case I may have very well picked up the album, like so many others, based on your recommendation, years ago. :) I do realize your list is albums only (ie not singles and rarely compilations) which is why I thought it might be fun to get some single recommendations (specifically singles that are not tracks on any of your recommendations.) And I didn't realize 10" albums were not considered on your list (I can understand why, of course) or that "A Cool Yuletide" was a 10" only release for that matter. I have a digital copy and will probably pick up a hard copy if they ever decide to re-release it (good copies usually go fast and are far from cheap.) In any case, maybe a question(s) in line with the original but tailored to you: Since you have put the list together have you discovered any albums that you would consider adding to your list if you were to compile it today? And/or are there any comps or singles or releases that didn't qualify for your list that you feel deserve calling out (off the top of your head)? |

Re:Favorite Christmas Album or Comp NOT in Chip's Top 500 Date Posted:02/18/2024 12:08:19Copy HTML There's been nothing that I've discovered recently that would displace anything in my Top 500. My goal is to add more of the albums in my archives that didn't make my Top 500 to the "Notable Mentions" section of my collection. Since Music To Trim Your Tree By is the only compilation album that is allowed to reside in the 1st Tier (or any Tier) of my Top 500 (coming in at #51), there's a lot of compilations that I could give a shout-out to -- as I did in my post of December 17, 2023 on the following thread: click here. Re:Favorite Christmas Album or Comp NOT in Chip's Top 500 Date Posted:02/19/2024 04:08:09Copy HTML Thanks for the link Chip. While I am familiar with the Goodyear compilations the Grant's compilations are new to me. Looking forward to exploring! And I'll be sure to key an eye open for updates to your noteable mentions. Thanks again, and a belated/early Merry Christmas to you! |
