Date Posted:09/09/2022 08:29:59Copy HTML Can anyone tell me if two of the four songs that were added to the 1955 reissue of the Christmas with Patti Page (Mercury) album - "Pretty Snowflakes" and "I Wanna Go Skating with Willie" - were released prior to that? The liner notes on Real Gone Music's 2013 CD release indicate that "Pretty Snowflakes" was recorded on September 21, 1953 and "I Wanna Go Skating with Willie" on October 24, 1953, but don't make any mention of whether or not they saw a single release. |

Re:Christmas with Patti Page (Mercury) Date Posted:09/09/2022 04:27:17Copy HTML Mercury Records released the two songs together on a single disc in two formats: 78-rpm, on Mercury's "Playcraft Records" label (Mercury Playcraft catalog #MP-12A/12B); and 45-rpm, on the regular "Mercury Records" label (Mercury catalog #70506). Re:Christmas with Patti Page (Mercury) Date Posted:09/09/2022 08:11:49Copy HTML And I take it they were released commercially in December 1953? |

Re:Christmas with Patti Page (Mercury) Date Posted:09/09/2022 10:30:05Copy HTML No, that is not correct, John: both the 78rpm and 45rpm singles were released by Mercury Records in December of 1954. And yes, "Pretty Snowflakes" was indeed recorded on September 21, 1953; but "I Wanna Go Skating With Willie" was actually recorded with Hugo Peretti and His Orchestra at Fine Sound Studios here in New York on October 24, 1954, not 1953, as the Real Gone Music liner notes indicate. This was not a release project that I was involved with; if I was, I would have caught that error. Lawrence F. "Chip" Arcuri
