Re:2011 Yule Log Broadcast Schedule

Chip,

I'm surprised you have some of the broadcast dates already.  I thought you usually waited until the November Sweeps before listing, but it is nice to see that some stations have already allotted a date and time slot for the broadcast.

But, alas, Antenna TV still isn't available in my area.  We recently lost Retro Television Network and they aren't replacing the channel with anything.  Being I am moving, I won't have Dish Network anymore even though the FCC laws state that a housing agency can't stop anyone from getting satellite service if they have a balcony or patio and a clear view of the horizon.  They have flat cables that go under door jams and windows so they don't have to drill holes into the building, and they have a way of installing the dish so it isn't permanently attached to the property.

I can't actually have a tech go out and do a sight survey until I have a move in date which I hope to hear about soon.

FIOS is available in the area I am moving to, but not at the unit I will be in yet.  And Time Warner Cable doesn't carry Antenna TV either.

Cable will be more expensive than Dish Network and I won't get certain channels either so I would love to stay with Dish Network if possible.

If there is a way to keep Dish Network, that would be great as I am able to get WPIX, but if not, I won't be able to watch The Yule Log anymore except from the DVD I made from when I DVR'd the 2010 broadcast.  But I like to actually watch it each year even though I did make a DVD of it.  It is the same with other Holiday programming like A Charlie Brown Christmas.  Even though I have it on DVD, I always watch it when it is on TV too, among other Christmas shows that are on each year.

Susan,

This is the same time of the year that I posted the Yule Log broadcast schedule info in 2009 and in 2010. If you look at the previous two year's broadcast schedule threads, you will see that in 2009 I posted the schedule info on 09/30/09 and in 2010 I posted the schedule info on 10/01/10. In 2008 I didn't post it until 11/12/08; but because of the ever growing popularity of the program, the affiliates are much better now at making an early commitment to broadcast the show.

Oh OK, my mistake Chip.  I should've looked back to see when you posted the listings.  I'm just so stressed with packing and stuff and people not picking up things in a timely manner that I am trying to rely on my memory and shouldn't do that while I am under stress.

It's good to see that the affiliates are starting to post their scheduling times so people in those areas can know earlier when they will be able to view The WPIX Yule Log.

Thanks for the clarification and again, my apologies for not looking back to the previous scheduling posts you have done.

Re:2011 Yule Log Broadcast Schedule

Good News and Bad News.

The Good News is we will be getting Antenna TV in my area.

The Bad News is it won't be until sometime in January 2012.  So anyone in Western New York State with Time Warner Cable and they get WGRZ Channel 2 out of Buffalo, they are apparently getting rid of NBC Uneversal Sports on Digital Channel 2-2 and TWC is supposed to replace it with Antenna TV being they give us NBC Universal Sports on Channel 114.

I did a post on Antenna TV's Facebook page and they responded back with the information about it changing in January on WGRZ 2-2 and Time Warner Cable.

So for this Christmas, we won't be able to see The WPIX Yule Log.  But, next Christmas we will.  I just hope they upgrade the signal/picture from SD to HD.

Well, my schedule is set.  I can have AntennaTV on softly on the TV in the bedroom starting at 3 AM, then switch to WPHL (Ch. 17) in Philly at 7, break for Church, then back to WPHL while we're opening gifts.  Thanks for posting the schedule, Chip.

Susan, you'll like AntennaTV once you get it next year.  They show a lot of the old classic comedies long abandoned by TV Land and Nickelodean.

Re:2011 Yule Log Broadcast Schedule

Thanks Bobby,

We get "ME TV" but it used to be "THIS TV" and the station is still being carried on digital 67-2 or -3, but the transmitter is so far away that we can't even pick it up and the Cable, Satellite and FIOS providers only give us the primary channel.  We also lost Retro Televison when our NBC affiliate decided to drop their 3rd digital channel and just kept NBC Universal Sports, which will become Antenna TV sometime in January.

ME TV has so good Classic TV programs, but they are on late at night.  Perry Mason, The Untouchables, Peter Gunn.  Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea just to name a few, but during Prime Time, it's shows like The Bob Newhart Show, Mary Tyler Moore, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Odd Couple, Cheers and Taxi.  Just to name a few.  Some good shows, but not the real Classic TV.

The only thing is with Time Warner Cable, they often put their own commercials in during the breaks, and not the commercials that the station is actually broadcasting and sometimes the program has already started again while the commercial is running so you miss a few seconds of the program.

About the only nextwork that doesn't have any commercials is Turner Classic Movies.

But I can't wait until we get Antenna TV.  I don't think it will be in HD though being most of the programming was made for 4x3 televisions so it wouldn't be worth broadcasting in HD being the image still wouldn't fill the screen.

Re:2011 Yule Log Broadcast Schedule

I'd love to have a nice crisp copy of all 4 hours of the Yule Log, but it appears it will NOT be on the cable version of WGN, and none of my local stations (nor cable system) carries 'Antenna TV'.

Is it on the web anywhere, or I'm I just out of luck again this year?
