Recently having the need to replace my Percy Faith 'Christmas Melodies' cd, I found out that there was a vinyl version issued in 1984. I bought my cd back in the 80's at a local mall. It has been one of my favorite Christmas cds and sometimes get a listen in the middle of summer or if the mood strikes me. :-) It is a compilation of some of the tracks from the 'Music Of Christmas' and 'Christmas Is..' albums.

The vinyl version has a different track order and is missing five tracks found on the cd. I had forgotten about the days when cd versions of albums added a few tracks. :-)

Anyway, the cd version adds:

We Need A Little Christmas

I'll Be Home For Christmas

The Little Drummer Boy

Happy Holidays

Oh Holy Night

Debating getting a vinyl version just because. :-)

I was very disappointed when this compilation LP came out in '84, that due to Columbia Records' oversight, they didn't include any songs from Hallelujah. I was also disappointed that the album cover artwork was not up to Columbia's normal high standards.

Percy Faith's Music Of Christmas and Hallelujah are #1 and #2 respectively in my Top 500; and Christmas Is is #58.

Columbia Records also released other Christmas compilation LPs that year from other artists, including Ray Conniff and Johnny Mathis.
