Besides the version he recorded for WMCA in New York which was released on 45 in November 1965 (Amy 944), I also have a different version he recorded while he was at WCBS in New York. This version appears on the WCBS-FM 101.1: The Ultimate Christmas Album, Vol. 6 compilation CD and features revised lyrics. I'm trying to date it, but can't find any information. All I know is Harrison was at WCBS from 1980-2005. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a version of Harry Harrison's famous rendition of "May You Always" on the WCBS-FM 101.1: The Ultimate Christmas Album, Vol. 6 CD that has different - politically corrected - lyrics than the original he cut at WMCA-FM back in 1965.  Specifically, "sweepstakes" is changed to "lottery," "Merry Christmas" is changed to "Happy Holidays," and a reference to cigarettes has been removed completely.  I guess this is a newer version he did during his tenure at WCBS, but I'm curious to know when it was recorded.  Does anybody know?

*The above two posts were the merger of two different threads from 2012 & 2019*

Sorry, I had forgotten all about that earlier inquiry. Seven years is a long time, I guess.

No problem at all, John. I combined the two threads because you had additional details in the 2012 post you didn't have in the 2019 post.

My assumption is that the revamped version of Harry's May You Always was undoubtedly redone in his early days at WCBS FM since its popularity never was forgotten about. So I want to say it was more or less at the time he began his stint at CBS(early 1980's) I don't believe it would be heard(revamped version) on his days with 770WABC AM since the ending on some later version has him saying ..."Happy Holidays from Harry Harrison and all of of us here at CBS FM". Currently from last I heard on radio they omit the line...."And all of us here at CBS FM"
