Gordon Anderson (Sr. VP/GM of Collectors' Choice Music) advised me today that they will be releasing on CD for the first time later this year the King Family's 1965 Warner Bros. Records LP, Christmas With The King Family. It will be available this fall. As soon as there is a release date, I'll post it on this thread.

This question simply reeks of ignorance , but what's so special about The King Family's 1965 Christmas album? I've never heard of it and would like to know more!
Peace,
Peter

Peter,

Given that you were born in 1983, it does not surprise me that you have never heard of the King Family, or for that matter, this 1965 LP.

The King Family's origins and nucleus were The King Sisters, who were a popular singing group in the 1940s and 50s -- again, well before your time.

Beginning in 1965, the sisters hosted their own show on ABC-TV based around their family called The King Family Show. After the conclusion of this series, the family hosted an annual 1-hour holiday special that lasted into the 1970s.

Some members of note were guitarist Alvino Rey (husband to King Sister Luise), composer/producer Lex de Azevedo (son of King Sister Alyce), and actress Tina Cole (daughter of King Sister Yvonne).

The group's 1965 Christmas album, while pleasant, is relatively weak; but on my message board, I post all new Christmas LP releases on CD, not just the ones I'm partial to.

On Friday, October 23, 2009, I received a shipment notification for Christmas With The King Family from Collectors' Choice Music.

I also ordered the other two CCM King Family reissus. They didn't ship yet. I wonder where they are? As it is, the King Family Christmas CD was delayed from its published October 13, 2009 release date. I suppose the same thing happened with the other King Family albums.

For all those who ordered a copy, expect shipment notifications in your inboxes shortly!
Peace,
Peter

P.S. If I remember correctly, The Hollyridge Strings CCM reissues also shipped/released a week or two late last year.

I ordered my King Family CD off Amazon on Monday, and it just came today.  It sounds great, but I have to say I'm not too crazy about many of the Bonus Tracks.
