Date Posted：12/22/2014 09:26:58Copy HTML Yesterday one of our local PBS stations (WYIN in Northwest Indiana) broadcast a Ray Conniff TV special from 1965. "Here We Come A-Caroling"
It was a pledge drive show with Ray's daughter Tamara Conniff on hand. There's a chance this might show up on your local PBS so check your tv listings. Just thought I'd mention it-came across it scanning tv listings. There is a DVD of the show available for $84 from various PBS outlets too. Perhaps a regular release will follow. |

It was hoped that more stations would pick up the show this year in 2014, which did happen. Hopefully, by next year, all PBS stations will be airing it. It's a great Christmas special and the only one that Ray ever did. In my 2009 In The Spotlight tribute to Ray, I posted the clip from the show where Ray and the group perform their rockin' rendition of Joy To The World. I'll repost the clip below; but for anyone who hasn't seen it, check out my original In The Spotlight to Ray. By the way, this song was one of the selections that I added to the Yule Log broadcast in 2009 with the addition of my new fourth hour.  Lawrence F. "Chip" Arcuri

Re：Ray Conniff Christmas TV Special on PBS Date Posted：01/13/2015 05:04:36Copy HTML I happen to have this show on a VHS tape somewhere in my collection, but it was broadcast during one of the many PBS Pledge Breaks, so I have to fast forward through them and eventually will transfer it to the computer and edit out the breaks and burn myself a DVD of the program. Another one I have is from Andy Williams, with interviews with Donny Osmond, but again, that has the PBS Pledge Breaks. I hate it when they say something like "Please donate, so we can continue to bring you such great programs as this" But they only broadcast those great programs during the Pledge Breaks, and never just the full show without interruption. Sadly, I missed The Bing Crosby program last year, and I had set my DVR to record the repeat broadcast after it was mentioned here on the message board, but my DVR has been messing up every once in awhile and I wasn't able to get the broadcast. Hopefully they will re-broadcast it sometime this year. Christmas Isn't Just A Day In December, It's A Way Of Life.

I might add that some true Ray Conniff fan went thru the trouble to re-master the video so that ALL the music in STEREO from the LP's that are in the show- minus the songs in the video not included on the 3 Christmas LP's. It is perfectly sync'd as well- a wonderful flashback to the early days of color TV!
